Lydia Mae (Houp) Horn

November 7, 1928 ~ January 8, 2018 (age 89) 89 Years Old

A much loved Mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother who left her legacy with her family, Lydia Mae Horn, 89, left her earthly home on January 8, 2018, to join those family members who have already gone before her.  She joins her husband Clay Walker Horn who died in 1967, a son Clay Horn, Jr., grandson Charles Wayne Houp, Jr., granddaughters Katherine Clay Horn and Donna Gail Houp Wesley, brothers Henry Houp, and Raymond Houp, Jr., and a sister Mary B Morgan.  Lydia was a native of Highbridge, KY born Nov. 7, 1928, to the late Raymond and Lucille Baker Houp.  A retired employee of Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company, she was a fun-loving person who loved to dance, ride in the pontoon, grow roses, and spend time with her large family playing card games and watching her favorite TV gameshows.  She also had a special spot in her heart and her chair for Elijah, a Yorkie dog.  She has been described as the glue of the family.  She will be missed by her daughter Jennie Ann Houp and husband Charles, daughter-in-law Susan Woolums Horn; grandchildren Michelle R. Houp, Christal Houp-Johns, Megan Montgomery, husband Kevin, and Richie Horn, wife Leslie; great grandchildren Walker Johns, Austin Dunaway, Coty Collins, Brittany Fain, husband Kaihlab, Garrett Wesley, Isabella Montgomery, Isaac Clay Montgomery, Maddie and MaKenlee Horn; great great grandchildren Addison, Kayden, Autumn, and Karson Dunaway, Kaihlee Fain, and Laine Connor.  She also leaves many memories with her brothers Everett Houp, wife Marie and Jimmy Houp wife Randi, sisters Betty Jo Goforth and Patty Sanders, sisters-in-law Jean and Betty Houp as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and special friends.  A Remembrance Service will be conducted by Rev. Bill Bales 1:00PM on Friday, Jan. 12, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home.  She will be laid to rest following the Service in Wilmore Cemetery.  Honoring her as pallbearers will be Richie Horn, Kevin Montgomery, Austin Dunaway, Coty Collins,Garrett Wesley, Walker Johns, David Bruner, Buddy Goforth, Jr., and Kirby Wesley.  Honorary bearers will be Megan Montgomery, Christal Houp-Johns, Michelle Houp, Leslie Horn, Brittany and Kaihlab Fain, Debbie Bruner, Betty Goforth,  Patty Sanders, Everett and Marie Houp, Jimmy and Randi Houp and Pam Goforth.  Her family will greet friends at the funeral home starting at 4 and ending at 8 PM on Thursday, Jan. 11.  Donations may be made in her memory to one’s favorite charity.  Hager & Cundiff is honored to serve Lydia’s family.  “ She’s the whisper of leaves, the smell of certain  foods, the flowers you pick, the cool hand on your brow, the breath in the air on a cold day, the sound of the rain, the colors of the rainbow, nothing can separate you not even death".
