William (Bill) T. Davis

William (Bill) Davis Obituary

William Thomas (Bill) Davis died Friday, April 15th. A resident of Thomson-Hood Veterans Center, Wilmore, Bill was born November 19, 1927, the son of the late John and Nannie Davis.  He is preceded in death by his sister Martha Carney, his brothers Edward and Jack Davis, his first wife Jean Allen Fain Davis, his wife Betty Sivis Davis, and his brother-in-law Howard Fain. Nephew Cecil Fain, nieces Betty Lunsford and Sandra Royalty also preceded him in death 

Bill is survived by his stepson Reverend Larry Sivis and wife Debbie Childs Sivis, and his stepdaughter Janet Sivis-O’Connell.  His step-grandchildren are Reverend Betty Sivis, Collin and wife Cherish O’Connell, and Curren O’Connell and friend Lacey Hylen.  Other family members include niece Janet Carpenter, nephew Johnny Davis, sister-in-law Ruth Ann Fain, and nephew Howard Douglas Fain.

A faithful member of Nicholasville Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, Bill was a Deacon Emeritus and member of the Men’s Bible Class. Bill served on the Jessamine County School Board, District 2 from 1984 to 1988.  From July 1978 to December 1998, he was on the Bluegrass Energy Board of Directors, and from 1981to 2012, he served as a Hurst Home Insurance Board of Directors.  Bill was a WWII Army veteran and served in Occupied Japan, from 1945 to 1947. Known to his many friends as a successful farmer and talented carpenter, Bill greatly enjoyed being part of the Jessamine County Beef Cattle Association as a member and cook.

Pallbearers include Collin O’Connell, Curren O’Connell, Bob Ball, Doug Marshall, Doug Fain, and Walter Lee Conn.  Honorary Pallbearers are members of the Men’s Bible Class of Nicholasville Christian Church and the Elders and Deacons of Nicholasville Christian Church.

Visitation will be Friday, April 22nd, from 11:00 until the time of the service at 1:00 at Nicholasville Christian Church, Disciples of Christ on the corner of West Maple and Second Street.  Officiating the service is Reverend Lon Oliver.  A graveside service follows at Maple Grove Cemetery, officiated by Reverend Betty Sivis.

The family suggest  contributions be  made in his memory to support the future ministries of Nicholasville Christian Church.
