William Peel Obituary

A limb has fallen from the Peel family tree.  William Franklin Peel, loving husband of Ruth Ann Humes Peel, left his earthly home on June 17, 2022, surrounded by his family.  A native of Jessamine County, he was born April 26, 1942, to the late Edward Harrison and Edna Mae Walker Peel.  He was a veteran of the United States Marines and a hard-working farmer, having raised tobacco and cattle. Even though farming was his passion, he also liked to fish and hunt and watch football.  He will be fondly remembered by his daughters Phyllis Cobb and Rebecca Maggard, and son William Franklin Peel, Jr., wife Tracy Jean, grandchildren Jordan Peel, Kyle Peel, wife Jennifer, Steven Maggard, wife Angela, Kim Strode, husband Rodney, Taylor Hammonds, Ryder Hammonds, and Chris Cobb, great grandchildren Dawson and Elliott Peel, Alexis, Aalaiyah and Clifford Maggard, Layne and Cody Cobb, and step-grandchildren Stephanie Sparks, husband Josh and Zack Hammonds. He leaves his childhood memories with brother Louis Edward Peel,  wife Darlene and special sister-in-law Martha Peel.  He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and extended family memories.  William is preceded in death by a brother Nelson Ray Peel and a grandson Gary Wayne Peel.  A Service of Remembrance will be held on Wednesday, June 22 at 11:00 AM with Wayne Johns and Billy Peel officiating.  Entombment will be held following the Service in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. Honoring him as pallbearers will be Chris Cobb, Steven Maggard, Kyle Peel, Eugene Edwards, John Allen, Josh Sparks and Rebecca Maggard.  The family will greet friends beginning at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, June 21, and ending at 8:00 PM.  “Good friends are hard to find and impossible to forget.”  Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home values nothing more than the trust and loyalty given to us by the Peel family.  The family requests donations be made to the funeral home to help pay for funeral expenses in place of flowers. Sign the guest book and make donations at www.hagerandcundifffunerals.com.
