Vivian (McCann) Barker

Vivian Barker, 83, widow of David Barker since 2015, joined him in eternal rest on Tuesday Feb. 18, at the Harrodsburg Health & Rehabilitation Center.  A native of Carlisle, KY she was born March 28, 1937, to the late Charles and Vivian Lawrence McCann.  She was a loving and caring mother who cared for her daughter Dawn until her death in 2007, and her husband during his illness.  Vivian was of the Catholic Faith and had attended Pax Christi Church, but most recently had been nurtured by St. MaryAndrew’s in Harrodsburg.  Being an avid gardener she could make anything grow and loved planting flowers in her yard with her beloved dogs beside her. She once bought a highchair so one could sit at the table while she and David ate.  She leaves to cherish her memory  her daughter Denise Barker and son Deven Barker, as well as grandson Michael Burus, brother Charles McCann, Jr., and many other extended family members.  In addition to her husband and daughter Dawn, she is preceded in death by daughter Devina Louise Burus in 2013, grandson Jason Burus, and brothers Elwood, Eddie “T”, and John.  A Catholic Rite of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 11:00 AM at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home.  She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Calvary Cemetery.  Honoring her as pallbearers will be family and friends.  The family will  greet friends on Tuesday beginning at 4:00 PM and ending at 8:00 PM.  In lieu of flowers, Vivian’s family suggests donations in her memory be made to Central Kentucky Regional Humane Society, 214 Richmond Ave., Lancaster, KY 40444. “She has warmed hearts and lifted spirits very day, so thanks ….for being you and sharing the love”.  Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home values nothing more than the trust given to us by the Barker Family.
