Paul Carpenter Obituary

Paul Carpenter 68, loving husband of Marecha for 9 years, left his earthly home on Saturday May 1, 2021, surrounded by family and friends.  Paul was a native of Mt. Sterling, KY born Dec. 4, 1952, to the late Carl Estill and Mary Alice Johnson Carpenter.  He was raised in Owingsville and later moved to Lexington.  He was a US Army Veteran, having served in the Vietnam War.  Paul was also a former employee of Climate Control for 30 years and later retired from the VA Hospital, where he worked in HVAC maintenance.  Paul was known as Mr. Fixit as he was always willing to help out. An outdoor enthusiast, he loved the beach, fishing, shooting guns, listening to Country music while drinking a good bourbon and smoking a cigar. He was always friendly and never met a stranger.  He will be fondly remembered by his daughter Danielle Carpenter, companion Jeremy Whalen, grandsons Conrad and Jordan Whalen, and special friend Kim Corman. He leaves childhood memories with sisters Sharon Carpenter and Dana Carpenter, brothers Jack Carpenter, wife Misty, and Keith Carpenter, companion Queena. He will be sorely missed by his Boxer Bruno.  Paul was preceded in death by brothers Jim and Kevin Carpenter.  He will be laid to rest in Camp Nelson Cemetery with a Graveside Remembrance and Military Honors at 1:30 PM Wednesday, May 5.  Honoring him as pallbearers will be Jeremy Whalen, Jordan Whalen, Jason Carpenter, Justin Carpenter, Jamie Carpenter and Mark Corman.   Honorary bearers will be Jack and Keith Carpenter.  The family will greet friends beginning at 12:00 Noon and ending at 1:00 PM. Donations may be made in his memory to Bluegrass Care Navigators. “If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart. I’ll be there forever.”  Hager & Cundiff values nothing more than the trust given to us by Paul’s family.
