Mary Byrd Obituary

Mary Loeta Byrd, widow of Joe Lloyd and Clayton Byrd, joined the Lord in her heavenly home on Tuesday, February 1, 2022.  She was born on January 18, 1936 in Madison County to the late Robert and Bertha Long Stapp and was raised in Woodford County.  Mary was an accomplished piano player, having played since she was 13 years old.  She had been a member of Logana Baptist Church since 1965.  She was friendly and kind-hearted, always had a smile, and was said to be “dressed to the nines!”  She was a devoted mother and homemaker and will be greatly missed by her two daughters Anita Sutton, ( Glenn Hammons), and Janet Walker, husband Ronnie, grandchildren Stacey Jones, David Walker, wife Athena, Michelle Matthews, husband Darrick, and Jeremy Willoughby, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.  She also leaves wonderful memories with her brother Paul Stapp, wife Juanita, as well as several nieces and nephews and extended family members.  She was preceded in death by a great-grandchild Charis Ava Walker and a brother Harold Stapp.  Mary’s family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 AM Monday, February 7, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home, and ending at 12:00 PM with a Remembrance Service at the funeral home.  She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Woodford County following the service.  Serving as pallbearers will be Scotty Mink, Jayden Matthews, Jeremy Willoughby, Darrick Matthews, Ronnie Walker, James Gabbard, and David Walker.  “A mother loves with steadiness, and you’ll always know that you honor her by how you live and who you are.”  Hager & Cundiff values nothing more than the trust and loyalty placed in us to care for Mary and her family.
