Obituary

A limb has fallen from the Lowry Family Tree.  Martin Howard Lowry entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at his home. He was the loving husband of Ann P. Lowry for 59 years and 11 months and the son of the late Elbert “Tug” and Mamie Puckett Lowry, born May 26, 1940, being one of their eight children.  Martin was a “Jack of all trades,” having retired from #452 Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union, and he had been manager/owner for Spears Water District, owner of Jessamine Lumber, as well as the Auto Auction.  He was an active member of our community, serving as Nicholasville City Commissioner, Jessamine County Magistrate, and was one of the original members of the Lone Oak County Club, of which he was a board member.  Martin was a member of the Sportsman Club, Jessamine Jaycees, Hart Lodge #61 F&AM,  and the Oleika Shriners.  His memory will be cherished not only by his wife Ann, but also by his daughter Kim Lowry Wallace, husband Travis, grandchildren, Ashlynn Kimble, Alex Tranter, Grayson Lee, husband Eric, Chase Tranter, Chancey Wallace, Kennedy Tranter, Reece Wallace, great grandchildren Cash and Carson Kimble. He leaves his childhood memories with brother John Robert Lowry, wife Linda, sisters Eva Lowry McDaniel, husband James and Ann Bedson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.  Martin was preceded in death by a daughter Karen Lowry Thomas, grandson Houston Wallace, brothers Ray and Coleman Lowry, and sisters Dorothy Godbey and Mary Jean Ritchie. A Funeral Remembrance conducted by Rev. Pamela Rucker will be held 2:00 PM Monday July 10, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home. Following the Service Martin will be laid to rest beside his daughter in Maple Grove Cemetery with Military Honors. Honoring him as pallbearers will be Bill Arvin, Clay Corman, Bobby French, Harry Ashcraft, Gary and Steve Feck, and Mike Godbey.  Honorary bearers will be Ed Lindsey and Dan Riffe.  The family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 AM on Monday until time of service. Donations may be made in Martin’s memory to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  “Good friends are hard to find and impossible to forget; may his memory remain with you.”  Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home values nothing more than the loyalty and trust given to us by the Lowry family to care for Martin.
