Louis Cease Obituary

Louis Joseph Cease, 88, of Lexington KY, died peacefully at the Lexington Kentucky Veterans Administration Hospital on January 30, 2022. Louis was born in Schenectady, New York, on December 21, 1933 to parents Joseph Gilbert Fleischman, Jr,  and Eunice Cease Fleischman.

Louis is survived by his wife Sharon Jones Cease, his children, Daphne Cease, Dermot Cease, Sean Cease, and Christopher Cease; step-daughters, Kimberly Mathias,  Heather Trumbo and Alison Jones-Theisen; sisters, Gair Brooks, Noel Zirpolo, and Peggy Martin (pre-deceased); grandchildren Michael Hawkins,  Darika Cease, Kamron Cease and Layla Cease Kasey and Zachary Mathias, Julia, Tom and Alan Trumbo, four great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. 

Graduating with honors from the Ecole de Cuisine La Varenne in Paris, France in 1977, Louis brought his renowned talents and great love for fine food to Lexington KY, where he opened a number of iconic and successful restaurants including the Bistro and C’est Si Bon.  He was a master chef in the kitchen and a charismatic, witty host to his patrons.

Louis was a faithful, kind, loving and engaged husband, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend to many. To know him was to love him. He will be missed greatly by all. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War and will be interred at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville Kentucky. A  service is being held by the family with military honors.
