Judith "Judee" Carol (Hays) Horsley

Judith “Judee” Horsley, 79, the loving wife of Darrell Horsley for sixty years, entered into eternal rest on May 17, 2023.  After attending Alice Lloyd College, Judee worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigations in Washington, D.C. While there she met Darrell, and they were married on January 12, 1963. Over the years, Judee worked in various administrative functions in the construction industry.  In looking for a career change, after completing barber school in Lexington, she became the owner of Plaza Super Cuts, where she was a barber stylist for many years.  Judee loved to cook and enjoyed baking cakes that she shared with friends, and also enjoyed collecting antique glassware.  She was a woman of strong faith, and was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church.  She was one of five children born to the late Hargis Hays and Maxine Salisbury Hays.  Judee was born on August 6, 1943, in Hunter, Kentucky.  She will always be fondly remembered by her husband and son James “Kevin” Horsley, his wife Carolyn, and granddaughters Morgan and Sydney Horsley, as well as her sister Tootsie Akers, and sisters-in-law Deanna Dyer and Fonda Horsley.  She was pre-deceased by her brother Jim Hays, and sisters Jean Hutchinson and Joyce Ramey.

A Funeral Remembrance Service will be at 2:00 PM Monday, May 22, 2023 at Edgewood Baptist Church, following which Judee will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery.  Her family will greet friends beginning at 12:00 PM until time of service at the church.  “Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories.”  Hager & Cundiff values nothing more than the trust given to us to care for Judee and her family.
