Jewell (Wells) Smith

Jewell Wells Smith, 95, passed away May 4, 2021 at Lexington Country Place. She was the widow of W.F. Smith and the daughter of the late Roy and Ruby (Jenkins) Wells. Jewell was a member of Bethany Christian Church, and she loved to sing.  She was always ready to chime in at Lexington Country Place during singing time.  In earlier years, she loved to sew and cook as she took care of her family.  Jewell was preceded in death by her son, Gary, five brothers and three sisters. Jewell is survived by her sister, Marjorie Wells Moore, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  The family will greet friends at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home beginning at 12:00 PM Thursday, May 6, and a Remembrance Service will follow at 1:00 PM.  Jewell will be laid to rest beside her husband in Maple Grove Cemetery after the service.  The family requests that expressions of sympathy in her memory be made to Bethany Christian Church, 1360 Bethany Road, Nicholasville, KY 40356.  “Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure.  She was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.”  In accordance with CDC guidelines, face masks are required and social distancing will be observed at the funeral home.  The service will be live-streamed on the Hager & Cundiff Face Book page and YouTube channel.  Hager & Cundiff values nothing more than the trust given to us to by Jewell’s family to care for her.
