Jean Waller Obituary

Jean Hardin Waller, 87, widow of Lorin B. “Jack” Waller left her earthly home on Friday, Oct. 12, at the Hospice Care Center in St. Joseph Hospital. A native of Jessamine County she was born Jan. 19, 1931, to the late Walter and Thelma Figg Hardin.   Jean was the hub of the Waller family and was loved dearly by her children.  She was the oldest member the High Bridge Union Church and had attended the Bethel Christian Church, where she like many others loved the pastor, Rev. Bill Bales.  She was a graduate of the Wilmore High School, former employee of the Barrett-Midway Sewing Factory, Irvin Industries, but her favorite occupation was to babysit her grand and great grandchildren.  Quilting was a hobby of hers for many years, but playing Bingo with her friends in the Willows at the Fritz Farm where she had lived for the last 6 months, was her latest passion.  She leaves her memory with daughters Lorin Waller, Sandra Brothers, husband Tommy, Marla Polen, husband Roger and Kay Disponett, her grandchildren Penny Orduña, Rebecca Bollis, Bobby Davis, Jason Waller, Walter McKinney, Shane Brothers, Carla Hampton, Jessica Dutton, Todd Waller, and Joe Hampton, 12 great grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, along with a host of friends.  She was preceded in death by a son Wally Waller, a daughter Jackie Sue Edwards, and sister Dorothy Smith.  A Remembrance Service will be held 1:30 PM Monday, Oct. 15, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Bales officiating.  She will be laid to rest with her husband in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.  Honoring her as pallbearers will be her grandsons.  The family will greet friends starting at 4:00 PM on Sunday and ending at 8:00 PM at the funeral home.  Flowers are welcome but the family suggest donations be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass in Jean’s memory.  “You will never forget your mother’s face, the sound of her voice, her touch, or the traditions she handed down”.  Hager & Cundiff Funeral home is honored to serve the Waller family.
