Obituary

Hugh General Madden, age 87, of Richmond, KY, formerly of McKee, KY, died on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, KY.  He was born in Herd, KY (Jackson County) on April 21, 1935 to the late Ruford Ausborn and Ruby Jane Witt Madden.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Randall Eugene Madden, five sisters, Nannie Smith, Georgia Marcum, Dorothy Wall, Irene Kiss, and Susie B. Collins, three brothers, Jesse Madden, Leonard O. Madden, and Elwin C. Madden, Sr., and two brothers-in-law, Gene Bell and Alvin Gilliland.  He is survived by two sons, Larry Wayne Madden (Ladenna Hendricks) of Cynthiana, KY and Bruce Daniel Madden of Snow Camp, NC, as well as four siblings, Ila M. Bell of Illinois, Ona Jean Madden of Tyner, KY, James Lewis Madden of Berea, KY, and Franklin Howard Madden of Berea, KY, 3 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews and other extended family members.  A Funeral Remembrance Service will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home in Nicholasville, KY.  Hugh will be laid to rest at 1:00 PM Thursday at Old Field Cemetery in Mt. Sterling, KY.  His family will greet friends beginning at 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, at Hager & Cundiff.  “We know that like a candle Hugh’s lovely light will shine to brighten up another place more perfect . . . more divine.”  Hager & Cundiff values nothing more than the trust placed in us to care for Hugh and the Madden Family.
