Hiroko Imaizumi Kenney

The family of Hiroko Imaizumi Kenney, age 85, share the news that our beautiful and much loved mother died peacefully in her sleep on October 8, 2022. She joined her parents, Haruo & Momoe Imaizumi and many loved ones who have preceded her in death, including our father, John Gordon Kenney. We cannot imagine life without her as she has been the source of endless joy and inspiration as the strength and foundation of our family. 

She was born in Tokyo, Japan on July 22, 1937 and rose from the struggles of the postwar era of World War II. Learning to speak English, translating for American missionaries which became the basis for her lifelong commitment of spreading God’s word to so many around the world. Leaving an indelible legacy of spreading the word of God, providing countless Bibles as she served as a leader and mentor in the Gideons Women’s Auxiliary. Her memories will bring smiles and touch the hearts of many throughout the world.

She leaves her four children, Naomi M. Kenney, John M. Kenney, Moshe Kenney-wife Lisa and Michael Masamichi Kenney with many warm memories to share with her six grandchildren, Kelci-Joy, Jonah, Nicholas, Kobe, Morgan and Jaden. She will be missed by so many people whom she touched with her warmth and laughter, not only here in Nicholasville, but also throughout the world, in Japan, Guam, Brazil and Hawaii.

She will be remembered and her family will greet friends at a service at Roberts Chapel on Thursday, October 13, 2022 beginning at 5:30 PM with a Remembrance Service at 6:30 PM. To honor her memory, we request in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Roberts Chapel or the Gideons International Organization.
