Harry "Gene" Erickson Obituary

Harry “Gene” Erickson, 90, widower of Ann Alcorn Erickson, joined her in eternal rest on Saturday, March 25, 2023.  Gene was born in Commiskey, Indiana on Feb. 14, 1933, to the late Erick Bertin and Hattie Higdon Erickson. He was a faithful  member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church and a US Army veteran, having served from 1953 to 1955.  Gene was a retired employee of Dixie Cup, where he was a print and press operator.  He also had been a lineman for 25 years with Western Union Railroad.  He will be fondly remembered by his stepson Leroy Tate, Jr., a sister-in-law Mamie Erickson of Florida, grandson Jason Tate and great grandchildren Addison and Regan Tate.  He was preceded in death by an infant son David Erickson, twin brother Dean Erickson and sister Martha Hughes.  A Funeral Service of Remembrance will be held at 11:30 AM Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home.  Gene’s family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00 AM at the funeral home.  He will be laid to rest with his wife Ann at 12:30 PM Thursday at Camp Nelson National Cemetery with Military Honors.  Serving as pallbearers are Leroy Tate, Jason Tate, Mark Wilson, and Matthew Wilson.  “Taps:  Day is done, gone the sun from the lake, from the hill, from the sky.  All is well, safely rest.  God is nigh.”  Hager & Cundiff values nothing more than the loyalty and trust given to us to care for Gene and his family.
