Gary Jeter Obituary

Gary Wayne Jeter, 63, son of Dottie Mullins Jeter and the late John Bernard Jeter,Sr  left his earthly home on Wednesday Dec. 15, 2021. Gary died peacefully of natural causes at his home. He was born Aug. 26, 1958, and was one of 12 siblings, being the third son of Jeter family.  Gary loved helping other people when there was a need and was known as the “fixer” a MacGyver  type of guy.  He was fun-loving and humorous, and if he was awake he was laughing. He was an awesome drummer and loved dancing to the beat of his own drum and living in the fast lane, driving motor cycles  and off road vehicles. If there was a dare, he was always ready to prove it possible.  Gary was deeply loved by his friends and family. One friend even quoted “Look out Heaven—here he comes”!  In addition to his mother “Dottie” he will be fondly remembered by his son Travis, wife Amber, their children T.J. and Tegan Jeter, as well as his brothers and sisters John Jeter, wife Beth, Mark Jeter, wife Christa, Danny Jeter, Mitzie Charles, husband Doug, Melinda Dennis husband Mark, Kevin Jeter, wife Meagan, Kimberly Hyland husband Phil, Sabrina Holley, Charlene Merryman, husband Dan, Scott Jeter, wife Jackie, as well as his 41 nieces and nephews and all his great nieces and nephews as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. In addition to his father, Gary was preceded in death by a brother Chris Jeter.  A family Graveside Remembrance will be held 12:30 PM on Tuesday Dec. 21, in Calvary Cemetery in Lexington with Doug Charles officiating. Honoring him as pallbearers will be brothers John, Mark, Danny, Kevin, Scott, his son Travis, and nephew Jessye Johnson.  “When I come to the end of the road, and the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a glom-filled room.  When you are lonely,  laugh at all the things we used to do. Miss me but let me go.”  Hager & Cundiff values nothing more than the trust given to us to care for Gary and his family.
