Flossie (Miller) Shackelford

August 19, 2021

Flossie “Poody “ M. Shackelford, widow of Lester Shackelford since 1988, joined him in eternal rest on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Ephraim  McDowell Hospital in Danville.  She was the daughter of the late Leonard and Maggie Reynolds Miller, born Oct. 1, 1924.  Flossie was a native of Jessamine County and grew up attending Logana Baptist Church and lived on Hickory Hill in Nicholasville for many years.  She also was a cashier at McAlpin's and worked for Asbury College in the cafeteria. Poody, as she was know by many, loved to read, grow flowers and delighted in cooking to feed the family.  She will be fondly remembered by her daughter Connie  Page, and special friend who was Connie’s right hand helper Peggy Donahue, and a young man who came to visit Flossie, Seth Elam, who she nicknamed “That Boy”, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews. She had many friends who were like family members to her.  She was preceded in death by brothers  Nolen "Red" Miller and  David Miller, sister Agnes Walker and sister in law Alberta Miller The family suggests contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Charity of your choice in memory of Flossie.  “If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart. I’ll be there forever.”  Hager & Cundiff Funeral values nothing more than the trust and loyalty given to us to care for Shackelford family.
