Dewey L. Thornton, 75, loving husband and best friend of Goldie Shelton Thornton, left his earthly home on Sunday, April 26, at Baptist Health Care. He was one of seven children born in Jessamine County to the late George M. and Alice McCullough Thornton. He loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting, but his real passion and a special talent was in making knives from various types metals with intricate details and handles. He spent many hours hand forging the metal to create these special tools. He also was talented in woodworking making many beautiful pieces of furniture. Childhood memories will be treasured by his sister Nora Brown. He will be fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews as well as many friends. He was preceded in death by brothers Tom, Bobby, George, Bill and sister Nanny. In keeping with his wishes there will be a private burial in Maple Grove Cemetery. “If there ever comes a day we can’t be together, keep me in your heart I’ll stay there forever”. Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home values nothing more than the trust given to us by the Thornton family.
