Obituary

Mr. Charles Franklin Preston, 83, beloved husband of Phyllis Ann Miller Preston for 60 years, entered his heavenly home on December 21, 2022.  Charles was born in Jessamine County, Kentucky on June 5, 1939, to the late John Thomas “J.T.” and Monnie Bullock Preston. He served in the U.S. Air Force as part of the Military Police from 1957-1961.  Charles married Phyllis on June 15, 1962 at Mt. Beulah Methodist Church, where he was a devoted Lay Leader and member for years.  He was a hard worker in various jobs and retired as a salesman from Kentucky Lighting and Supply (now Wiseway Supply) after 20 years in 2001.  Charles was also an active member of the Jessamine County Beef Cattle Association for 20 years.  Besides his wife Phyllis, Charles leaves wonderful memories with his son Charles Gregory “Greg” Preston, wife Susan, grandchildren Stephanie Ann Preston, Emily Michelle Preston, Adam Marvin, wife Kaitlynn, Cassie Kelvin, husband Jack, and great-grandchildren Malakai and Finnegan Marvin.  He leaves a lifetime of memories with his brothers Thomas Andrew Preston, wife Angie, and James Arthur Preston, and brother-in-law Bobby Dexter Miller, wife Donna, as well as several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his sister Emily Joyce Steele.  His family will greet friends from 10 AM-12 PM Thursday, December 29, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home, with a Remembrance Service following at 12:00 PM.  Charles will be laid to rest Thursday at 1:30 PM at Camp Nelson National Cemetery with military honors.  Serving as pallbearers will be Greg Preston, Johnny Burge, Steve Field, Bobby Dexter Miller, John Thomas Miller, Stephen Miller, and David Willoughby.  Honorary pallbearers are the men of Mt. Beulah Methodist Church.  Expressions of sympathy can be made to the Barnstable Brown Diabetes Center, 2195 Harrodsburg Rd. Suite 125, Lexington, KY 40504-3516.  “If there every comes a day where we can’t be together, keep me in your heart.  I’ll stay there forever.”  Hager & Cundiff values nothing more than the trust and loyalty given to us to care for Charles and his family.
