Roland “Rock” East, 95 the last surviving son of the late Curtis and Miranda "Randy" Davis East, joined his brothers Sid, Elwood “Cadillac”, William C. “Booster”, Alexander "Alex", Paul “Paulie” and Thompson "Tom" in eternal rest. Rock was born April 28, 1930, in Jessamine County where he lived all of his life. He proudly served in the US Air Force during the Korean War, as an electrician on B-29 and B-26 aircrafts. He owned a Service Station for many years on US 27. He retired after 23 years of being employed with Bluegrass RECC as the purchasing agent. In 2024 the Honor Flight organization flew him to Washington D.C. to tour the memorial monuments, where he was thanked for his service. His sense of humor was unrivaled, and there was never a time when someone didn't want to hear him tell one of his jokes. He enjoyed listening to music as one of his past times, ranging from gospel to patriotic, to country. And one could never forget his love for The Lawrence Welk Show, on every Saturday night at 6pm! Above all else, he loved his family and was very devoted to his six brothers, his daughter Robin East Arvin, and granddaughter Elizabeth Arvin, whom he called "Beth", his “Bestest Buddy". He is also survived by Rita Harrison, the Mother of his daughter. He was a wonderful family man, who used his bookkeeping skills and his love for numbers to become a successful businessman. He was very kind and received more joy out of life from giving than receiving. Charities and people alike were recipients of his generosity. One time Robin asked him "Daddy what are you doing Today?" He replied "giving away money to the poor." He enjoyed sitting at his dining room table, his "desk", writing numerous checks to his favorite charities. He was a down to earth Christian man who came from humble beginnings, kept a strong work ethic his entire life, saved wisely, and shared his rewards with many. He was a unique, sweet and simple man who lived a beautiful life that is an example for all to follow. He will be missed by those who were fortunate enough to have known him. A Remembrance Service will be held 1:00 PM on Monday April 6, 2026 at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home and he will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery following the Service. Honoring him as pallbearers will be Haylee Rutherford, Jeremy Knight, Randy East, Wayne East, Philip East, and Marty Lamb. Honorary Bearers will be nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved. The family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 AM on Monday at the Funeral Home until Service time. This obituary was lovingly submitted by the family.  “Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories." Arrangements are under the direction of Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home. We express our deepest sympathy to Rock’s family and friends.
