The Matriarch of the Stinnett family, Roberta Stinnett, 96, joined her beloved husband Bennis Stinnett, who died in 2006, in eternal rest. She was born in Jessamine County, Dec, 28, 1929, to the late Bradie Ford and Elizabeth Brooks Teater. She was a retired employee of University of Kentucky, where she worked in the Treasury Department. Roberta was a member of Antioch Christian Church, having played the piano and sung there for many years, and also was a faithful member of the Nicholasville Methodist Church. She loved to crochet hats, afghans and scarves. Planting flowers and working in her yard served as a great pastime for her, since she came from a farming family. Roberta leaves many precious memories with her sister Nina Ann Young and nieces and nephews Gary Dean Teater, wife Bonnie, Rhonda Ellison, husband Ronnie, Dora Young Collins, husband Ronnie, Monte Howard Young, Sara Young Nelson, husband Dustin, and Rebecca Elizabeth Young, as well as great-nephew Bradie Keith Ellison, wife Shae, and their son Raylan. Additionally she will be remembered by great-nieces and nephew Ron Graham, wife Stephanie, Madison Lairson, Kloe Graham, Ciairah Graham, and Anna Ruiz, as well as her sister-in-law Tenney Stinnett. Roberta was preceded in death by her brother Rollie Teater and his wife Willodene Teater, her sister Billie Jean Teater, and her brothers-in-law Donald Young and Milton Stinnett. A Remembrance Service officiated by Pastor Rob Corley will be held at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home on Monday, Sept. 14, at 1:00 PM, following which she will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery beside her husband. Honoring her as pallbearers will be Bradie Keith Ellison, Monte Young, Kloe Graham, Ciairah Graham, Ron Graham, and Eric Keith. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Ellison, Ronnie Collins, Dustin Nelson, Coy Warfield, Steve Smith, and Pastor Rob Corley. The family will receive friends on Sunday Sept. 13, beginning at 3:00 PM and ending at 7:00PM at the Funeral Home and on Monday from 12:00 noon until time of Service. “Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories.” Arrangements have been entrusted to Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home, and we extend our deepest sympathies to Roberta’s family and friends.
