Patricia Ann Eades Cartwright-Steffen, 81, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 15, 2025 in Nicholasville, KY. Pat was born on December 28, 1943 to the late Perry and Grace Eades, of Wilmore, KY. She was the widow of Charles Cartwright after 45 years of marriage, who passed in 2007. She was also the widow of her second husband, Fred Steffen, after 15 years of marriage, who passed earlier this year. She is also preceded in death by both of her daughters, Alecia Ward and Dana Cartwright. She is survived by her granddaughters, Lynsey Ward of Georgetown, KY and Sarah Sumner (Chris) of Nicholasville, KY, along with her first expected great-granddaughter on the way. She also leaves behind her step-son, Tim Steffen (Delia) of Lexington, KY, and three step-grandchildren: Jacob Steffen of College Station, TX, Rebekah Steffen of Lexington, KY, and Jordan Steffen of Macon, GA. Additionally she leaves behind a brother, Charles Eades (Joyce) of Nicholasville, KY, and two sisters - Nancy Watts of Lexington, KY, and Mary Nell Shepherd of High Point, NC. She will be missed by several nieces and nephews, cousins, brother and sister’s in-law, and friends who became family.

Throughout her life, Pat enjoyed many fulfilling hobbies and possessed many talents. She was a pianist and a singer in her youth. She was a great seamstress and enjoyed several creative pursuits. Pat received formal training in cosmetology and loved to help women with their hair and make-up. She ultimately retired from the University of Kentucky after a career in administrative work during which she received accolades and many trainings that made her quite adept with technology. Pat loved to host, whether at home or in setting up parties and events, and enjoyed many years of traveling with her friends and family. She loved to cook and was adventurous in trying new recipes. Pat was a lover of all plants and animals, having had many special pets throughout the years and tended carefully to her flower beds. She was incredibly social and exhibited a love for leadership, becoming an active member of many organizations over the years. Pat was an alumna of the Jessamine County High School graduating class of 1961, she kept up with all her classmates throughout the years and organized several class reunions. Pat was extremely active with the Lions Club and the Lioness Club, even presiding over the local chapter and state level of the organization for some time. During her time with the Lions Club, she invested in charitable causes and made many, many friends, locally and internationally. There was nothing in life she was not willing to try at least once, especially if she could socialize in the process.

Services for Pat will be held at Hager and Cundiff Funeral Home in Nicholasville, KY. Visitation will be Thursday, August 21, 2025 from 5 - 8 pm. A Remembrance Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, August 22 with Pastor Tim Steffen officiating. Pat will be laid to rest at Bluegrass Memorial Gardens following the service. Pallbearers will be Chris Sumner, Jordan Steffen, Thomas Bullock, Frank Eades, Jacob Eades, and Spencer Hall. Memorial contributions should be made to an organization of your choice, knowing Pat cared deeply about many causes. The family would also like to thank those who cared well for Pat at Cedarhurst of Nicholasville in her final year.
