Martha Aldridge Mandt, lovingly known as “Marty,” passed away on February 4, 2026. She was born on September 9, 1938, in Winchester, Kentucky, the third child of Lewis and Sallie Aldridge. Her early years were shaped by a close-knit family and the strong values that guided her throughout her life.
Marty’s family moved from Lexington, Kentucky, to South Florida during her youth, a place that would become central to her life. She graduated from Pompano Beach High School in 1957 and continued her education at the University of Miami, studying Fashion Merchandising. Her natural eye for style and professionalism led her to a position with Graves, Cox & Company, a respected Lexington clothier.
In August 1960, while visiting friends at Boonesborough Beach, Marty met Edward “Ed” Mandt. Their connection was immediate, and they were married on February 10, 1962, in Lexington. Together they shared nearly sixty-four years of devoted marriage marked by resilience, partnership, and love.
In 1966, they welcomed their son, Michael, who became the center of Marty’s world. She was a steady, devoted mother and later found great joy in her role as grandmother to Kendall (Trevor) Edes and Cole Mandt, who brought immense pride and happiness to her life.
Marty built a meaningful career with Nova Southeastern University and Broward College, serving as Manager of Circulation and Student Employment for their combined library system. She was known for her dedication, organization, and unwavering support of students and faculty.
Marty will be remembered for her commitment to her family and the protective love she showed every day. Her presence was a constant source of comfort to those closest to her.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Edward Mandt; her son, Michael (Amy) Mandt; her grandchildren, Kendall (Trevor) Edes and Cole Mandt; and her loyal dog, Danny Boy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Sallie Aldridge.
In lieu of services and flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Jessamine County, Kentucky Animal Care & Control.
This obituary was lovingly submitted by the Mandt family. “Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories.” Local arrangements are under the careful direction of Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home, and we would like to express our deepest sympathy to the Mandt family and friends.
