Marion Larry Lewis, age 85, of Nicholasville, Kentucky, passed away unexpectedly on July 23, 2025. Born on October 19, 1939, in Crested Butte, Colorado, he was the beloved son of the late Lloyd Marion Lewis and Lola Almira (Hockett) Lewis.
He was married to the love of his life, Shirley Ann (Knisley) Lewis, for sixty-four wonderful years until her passing. Together, they built a strong and loving family. Larry was the proud father of seven children: Larry (preceded in death) and wife Cindy; Pamela; Laura (Dewey) Bozarth; Linda; Rhonda (Daniel) Stilwell; Terry (Sabrena) Lewis; and Shelly, along with her partner Darvin (also preceded in death).
He leaves behind a legacy of love through his fourteen grandchildren—Amanda, Andrew, K’Sandra, David, Elizabeth, Bobbi, Jenny, Daniel, Suzie, Ben, Hannah, Joe, Sam, and Sophie—and thirty-one great-grandchildren.
Larry was also preceded in death by his siblings—Boyd, Bill, Jack, and Donna. He is survived by his brothers Bob and Don.
A hard worker throughout his life, Larry began as a cement finisher and went on to work as a janitor, maintenance man, and owner of a lawn care business, among many other ventures. Always on the lookout for hidden treasures, he enjoyed spending time at garage sales and flea markets. In his later years, he poured his heart into researching family genealogy—preserving stories and connections for future generations.
For the past 40 years, he was a faithful member of Clays Mill Baptist Church, where he was lovingly known as “the Candyman” for his joyful habit of handing out candy and sharing smiles. His warm spirit, kind heart, and unwavering faith touched the lives of many.
