Jerel L. Dennis, 74, beloved husband of Ruth A. Dennis, passed away on January 28, 2026 at St. Joseph Hospital. He was originally from Lawrenceburg, KY, but made his home in Nicholasville. He was born November 10, 1951, to the late Vernon Ralph Dennis, Sr. and Norma Taylor Dennis in Franklin County, Kentucky. Jerel “Cac” retired from the trucking industry after owning and operating Dennis Trucking Company for many years. He took pride in his truck fleet and truly enjoyed seeing the country as he traveled the roads. Outside of work he loved bargain-hunting, tinkering with cars, spending time with his family and in-laws on their family farm, and cooking and grilling on his smoker. He also enjoyed being part of the Hardee’s Breakfast Crew. He was preceded in death by his sister Angela D. Dennis and his uncle Carroll Taylor. In addition to Ruth, his loving wife of 15 years, Jerel is survived by his stepson Eric Johns and his wife Samantha, his brother Vernon Ralph Dennis, Jr. and his wife Nancy, his niece Denise Myers and her husband James, his nephew Vernon Ralph Dennis, III “Chip,” and his great nephew Bennett Myers, all of Lawrenceburg. He is also survived by his aunts, Pat Hanks and her husband Doug, and JoAnn Taylor, also of Lawrenceburg, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
