James B. Sorrell

James B. Sorrell, 76, beloved brother of Cathy Sparks, left his earthly home on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. “Jim Burt” was a life-long resident of Jessamine County, born November 6, 1948 to the late Carl and Jessamon Willis Sorrell. He was an accountant with Kentucky Finance, and in his free time, Jim Burt enjoyed being outdoors fishing, gardening, and watching the horses run at Keeneland. In addition to his sister Cathy and her husband Mike, Jim Burt leaves wonderful memories with his niece Shellie Davis, nephew Patrick J. Sparks, and great-niece and nephews Emily Davis, Johnny Sparks, Justin Sparks, and John Sparks. Cremation was chosen, and no services are scheduled at this time. “I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one. I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.” Arrangements are under the direction of Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home, and we express our deepest sympathy to Jim Burt’s family and friends.
