Homer Garnett Bruner

Homer Garnett Bruner, 96, widower of Mary Beverly Brumfield Bruner, joined her in eternal rest on Monday, July 24, 2023 in the presence of his daughter Ada Bruner at his home.  A native of Jessamine County he was the son of Jesse Walden and Elizabeth Stinnett Bruner.  He was one of their 11 children.  He was a life-long farmer who still loved to garden and work in his yard and occupied himself with jigsaw puzzles in bad weather.  He was a member of Wesley Chapel Methodist Church.  In addition to his daughter, he leaves to cherish his memory his brother Luther Bruner and sister Roberta Perkins, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.  He was preceded in death by siblings Lucy Shearer, Jay Bruner, Henry Bruner, Gladys Hurt, Paul Bruner, Christine Bruner, Lorraine Paterson, and Shirley Bruner, sister-in-law Frances Bruner and brother-in-law Gobel Perkins, Jr.  A Remembrance Service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Canada and Roy Stinnett officiating.  Following, Homer will be laid to rest beside his wife in Maple Grove Cemetery.  Honoring him as pallbearers will be Robert Bruner, Luther Clay Bruner, Jeremy Bruner, Bryan Bruner, Aaron Bruner, Justin Jasper, and Chris Bruner.  Honorary bearers will be Roy Stinnett, Rosie and Barbara Brooks, Tyler Bruner, and Donald Pearson. Homer's family will greet friends on Wednesday beginning at 5:00 PM and ending at 8:00 PM at the funeral home.  “Please protect my family from all harm, and thank you, Lord, for your gracious gift my farm.”  Hager & Cundiff values nothing more than the trust given to us by the Bruner family to care for Homer’s arrangements.
