A limb has fallen from the Caudill family tree. Herbert Marshall Caudill, loving husband for 45 years of Martha Sparrow Caudill, entered into eternal rest on Jan 29, 2023, at his home. Herbert was a life long resident of Jessamine County born Sept 5, 1950, to the late Hubert and Elizabeth Congleton Caudill. Herbert served his country in the US Army in Germany from 1968-1970, then spent his life farming raising vegetables, tobacco, cattle and hay. He was a hard worker and enjoyed his friends in the farming community and his family to whom he was dedicated. He farmed in Jessamine and Scott Counties. When not farming he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and hunting. In addition to his wife, he leaves cherished memories with his 5 children Kimberly Caudill (Brown), Mary Caudill, Herbert Marshall, Jr., wife Jennifer, Martin Caudill, wife Chrissy, Terra Archer, husband Andy, as well as stepchildren Teresa Garrison, husband Tommy, and Timothy Reed, grandchildren Payton Caudill, Olivia, Ty Caudill, Lee Caudill, Hadley Caudill, Nash Caudill, Caleb Brown, Miranda Brown, Jacob Caudill, Garrett Caudill, Jarred Caudill, Alyson Archer, Hannah Archer, and Rachel Archer, Mary’s Children Michael Miller and Laney Simpson, and his unborn great grandson who will arrive in April, Oakley Herbert Dion Caudill. He will forever be remembered by his sister Rita Harrison, husband Bill, niece Robin Arvin, and great niece Elizabeth Arvin. He was preceded in death by stepson Dana Reed. A Funeral Remembrance will be held at 11:00 AM Friday Feb. 3, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at 1:30 PM Friday at the Caudill Family Cemetery 1158 Switzer Rd., Stamping Ground, KY with Military Honors. Honoring him as pallbearers will be grandsons Payton, Ty, Lee, and Caleb Caudill, Scottie Hensley, and Chris McCarty. Honorary bearers will be Freddie Hensley, Jeffrey Hensley, Danny Gillespie, Joe, Jeff, and David Switzer, Tinker Clements. Alvin Adams, and Marvin Hockensmith. His family will greet friends beginning at 4:00 PM on Thursday Feb. 2 ending at 8:00 PM. Hager & Cundiff values nothing more than the trust and loyalty of the Caudill family to take care of their loved one.
