Dorothy Jean Canter, 66, of Nicholasville, KY passed away peacefully on December 10, 2025. She was born on March 5th, 1959, to the late Ralph and Maudie Canter. Dorothy is survived by her sister, Katrinka Bruner (Jay), sister-in-law, Donna Canter, nephew, Tim Canter, nieces, Holly Hollon (Nate), Stephanie Smith (Philip Lowery), and Victoria Drury (Austin Williams) great nieces, Olivia Smith and Skylar Drury, great nephews, Trey Hollon and Paxton Drury. Dorothy leaves behind many special lifelong friends and neighbors. She was proceeded in death by her brother, Ralph Canter. Dorothy grew up in Woodford County. She graduated from WCHS and attended the University of Kentucky. She was a long-time employee of K-Mart in Versailles and Austin City Saloon. In recent years she was an employee of Boyd's/Eckert's Orchard. She made many lifelong friends through her work career. Dorothy was an avid county music fan and a big animal lover. She was very creative and loved to needle point, cross stitch, and crochet. Friends and family benefited from her creativity and gift giving. Dorothy was a Jessamine County Fair Board member who volunteered her time in concessions and was known as "the ham lady". Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 17th from 11:00 to 1:00 at Hager and Cundiff Funeral Home in Nicholasville. The service will be conducted at 1:00 by Pastor Tim Canter followed by a short grave side service at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Frankfort. Pallbearers will include Nate Hollon, Trey Hollon, Philip Lowery, Coleman Tudor, Roger Schultz, and Kent Weber. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Bobby Pitney, Diane Wilson, and Jessie Brock.
