Viola Mae (Hale) Frazier

February 14, 1936 ~ October 13, 2019 (age 83) 83 Years Old

Viola Frazier Obituary

Viola, better known as “Vi” Mae Frazier, 83, widow of Norman Frazier since 2017, joined him in eternal rest on Saturday, Oct. 13.  A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, she was born Feb. 14. 1936, to the late Roy Michael and Mable M. Smith Hale.  “Vi” was a  member of The Church at Athens for 40 plus years.  She was a retired employee of Square D and also a former employee of American Cabin.  She liked to square dance and danced with several different  clubs, but was best known for the hugs she gave out and her big smile.  She will be fondly remembered by children Teresa Sidwell, Linville Sidwell, step children Karen Anderson, husband James, Gail Scargth, husband Steve, and Nancy Gray, sisters, Gwen Asberry and Ann Delaney, and special son-in-law Larry Gilpin.  She also leaves to cherish her memory grandchildren Christopher Gilpin, Viola Parmley, and Josh and Sam Estes, great grand children Aquila Morgan, husband Justin,  and Annie Boaz, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by a son Gary Sidwell and brother Danny Hale.  A Service of Remembrance will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, Oct. 17, in The Church at Athens. where her family will  greet friends beginning at 11:00 AM until time of Service.   She will be laid to rest with her husband in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens following the Service.  Honoring her as pallbearers will  be  Fred Rogers, Josh Tyree, Freddie Baesler, Josh and Sam Estes, and Gary Renner. The family suggests donations be made in her  memory to The Church at Athens, 6991 Athens Boonesboro Rd., Lexington KY 40509.  “ You will never forget your Mother’s face, her voice, or, her gentle touch”.  Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home is privileged to be chosen to care for “Vi” and her family.
