Treffert Shewmaker

November 2, 1935 ~ November 13, 2017 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Treffert Shewmaker, 82, loving husband of Evelyn Reed Shewmaker for 32 years, entered into eternal rest on Monday, Nov. 13.  A native of High Bridge, Jessamine County, he was born Nov. 2, 1935, to the late John and Gertrude Woods Shewmaker.  He was a retired employee of Dixie Cup and member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church.  Treffert loved sports, especially  golf and fishing.  He leaves his memories with his children Donna Marie Shewmaker Beaty, Tracy Lynn Shewmaker, Jerri Leigh Shewmaker Moore, and David Marshall Shewmaker, wife Jeanna and their mother Donna Dean Shelton Shewmaker; step children Carol Kirkland, husband Ronnie, Joan Tackett, husband Randal, and Bill Reed, wife Liz; grandchildren Tevis Beaty, Ashton Flannery, Katherine Moore, Marlee Moore, Hannah Moore, Brianna and Kris Shewmaker; great grandchild Clayton Beaty.  He is also survived by brothers Donald Shewmaker, wife Virginia, Tommy Shewmaker, Jerry Shewmaker, wife Dayna, Kenneth Shewmaker, wife Bonnie, and a sister Sally Laney, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a grand daughter Jessica Marie Shewmaker, brothers J.D., Marion, Bobby Gene, and Paul, and sister Barbara Evans.  A Remembrance Service will be held 2:00 PM on Friday, Nov. 17, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home.  Following the service he will be laid to rest in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens.  Serving as Pallbearers are Kenneth Shewmaker, Tommy Shewmaker, Jerry Clay Shewmaker, David Marshall Shewmaker, Bobby Sams, and Layne Clark.  Honorary Pallbearers are Donald Shewmaker, Sally Laney, Terry Shewmaker, Bill Treadway, Mike Bowling, and George Frazier. His family will greet friends starting at 4:00 PM and ending at 8:00 PM on Thursday, Nov. 16.  “Those we love don’t go away, They walk beside us everyday”.  Donations may be made to the Hillcrest Baptist Church, American Legion or the VFW in his memory.  Hager & Cundiff is proud to serve the Shewmaker family.
