Elizabeth "Betty" Lou (LaMont) Tullar

Elizabeth (Betty) Lou LaMont Tullar (82) passed away quietly in her home on February 4.  She and her husband David had recently celebrated their 61st anniversary, having been married in Johnson City, NY on September 8, 1956.  Betty and David met while attending Roberts Wesleyan College, Rochester, NY.  She was the youngest of three children born to John and Lula LaMont on March 6, 1935.  Following graduation, Betty and David responded to the call for teachers at Oakdale Christian Academy near Jackson, KY, where they served for 25 years.  In 1984, they moved to Wilmore, KY where they served in various capacities at Asbury University.  Betty became known as “The Voice of Asbury College,” where she was the Receptionist and Switchboard Operator in the Administration Building from 1985 until her retirement in 2001.  Betty was a loved and respected Piano Teacher, Sunday School Teacher at the Wilmore Free Methodist Church, member of Jessamine County Auxiliary of Gideons International, and The Wilmore Lions Club.  She is survived by her husband David, three children and their spouses:  Kenneth (Sharon) Tullar of Lancaster, KY, Lynnette (David) Lin of Lake Worth FL, and Darrell (Lorie) Tullar of Wilmore, KY; Nine grandchildren:  David R., Chadd, Carissa, Kimberly, Austin, Bradley, Caitlyn, Kelsey, and Skylar; and one great grandchild:  Hallie May.  Visitation will be at The Wilmore Free Methodist Church on Saturday, February 10 at 1:00PM, with the Memorial Service at 2:00PM.  Burial will be in the Wilmore Cemetery.  Gifts in her memory may be made to :  The Gideons International, Asbury University, Hospice of the Bluegrass, or The Wilmore Free Methodist Church.  Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home is honored to serve the Tullar Family.
